| Abstract | Traumatske ozljede mozga (TOM) predstavljaju značajan zdravstveni izazov diljem svijeta, s potencijalno dugotrajnim i teškim posljedicama za pacijente. Definiraju se kao ozljede koje su nastale kao posljedica fizičkog udara ili traume lubanje što rezultira oštećenjem mozga. To mogu biti različite vrste ozljeda, uključujući udarce, padove, prometne nesreće, sportske ozljede ili druge nezgode koje uzrokuju iznenadni i snažan mehanički utjecaj na glavu. One mogu biti blage, umjerene ili teške, ovisno o tome koliko je oštećenje mozga. Blage ozljede mogu uzrokovati privremene poteškoće s koncentracijom i pamćenjem, dok teže ozljede mogu dovesti do trajnih oštećenja kognitivnih, fizičkih i emocionalnih funkcija. Simptomi traumatskih ozljeda mozga uključuju glavobolju, mučninu, povraćanje, gubitak svijesti, poteškoće s govorom, slabost mišića, promjene raspoloženja te druge neurološke i kognitivne promjene.
Rehabilitacija nakon traumatskih ozljeda mozga igra ključnu ulogu u oporavku pacijenata. Ovisno o težini ozljede, ona može biti složen i dugotrajan proces koji zahtijeva individualizirani pristup. Rehabilitacija nakon traumatskih ozljeda mozga može trajati mjesecima ili čak godinama, a postupno pomaže pacijentima u postizanju maksimalnog oporavka te postizanju što veće samostalnosti i kvalitete života. |
| Abstract (english) | Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) represent a significant global health challenge, with potentially long-lasting and severe consequences for patients. They are defined as injuries resulting from a physical impact or trauma to the head, leading to brain damage. These injuries can take various forms, including blows, falls, traffic accidents, sports injuries, or other accidents that cause sudden and forceful mechanical impacts on the head. TBIs can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of brain damage. Mild injuries may cause temporary difficulties with concentration and memory, while more severe injuries can result in lasting damage to cognitive, physical, and emotional functions. Symptoms of traumatic brain injuries include headaches, nausea, vomiting, loss of consciousness, speech difficulties, muscle weakness, mood changes, and other neurological and cognitive changes.
Rehabilitation after traumatic brain injuries plays a crucial role in a patient's recovery. Depending on the severity of the injury, it can be a complex and lengthy process that requires an individualized approach. Rehabilitation after traumatic brain injuries can last for months or even years and gradually helps patients achieve maximum recovery and attain greater independence and quality of life. |
